Fantasy for Adults Only boast one of the best and largest selections of erotic toys, adult games, novelties, bondage and fetish gear, lubricants, and sexual wellness products in the Pacific Northwest. We also carry a unique and stunning selection of hosiery, adult costumes, clothing, dancer wear, lingerie, and accessories for all shapes and sizes. But most importantly, we have the privilege to help people explore and improve one the most important aspects of their lives. The highlight of our day is helping someone gain or restore confidence in themselves and in their relationships, whether by providing the perfect toy, accessory, outfit, or simply a helpful bit of advice.

Our History

In 1985, Tracy Blakeslee opened the first Fantasy for Adults Only stores in Missoula, Montana. After relocating to Oregon, Mr. Blakeslee opened the first Portland store in 1989, and established a central office and warehouse to support what has become one of Portland’s iconic small local business chains. Although known for its Portland stores, Fantasy’s small warehouse in the Hollywood District continues to support the two original locations in Blakeslee’s hometown of Missoula.

Brooks store in Missoula MTAs an advocate for civil rights and sexual liberty, Blakeslee opened Fantasy stores with the belief in everyone’s right to enjoy and explore their sexual desires. Fantasy owes much of its initial success to the boom of adult video rentals and sales, first with the advent of VHS in the 1980s, then DVDs in the 1990s. Fantasy’s adult video arcades also offered customers a safe place to watch adult videos and to meet others a midst a relatively conservative social landscape. As the adult retail industry evolved, so too did Fantasy. We’ve continuously updated our toy selection, offering the latest and most innovative in adult toy technology alongside old favorites. In 2006, we expanded our apparel selection to provide a more inviting environment to those new to adult stores. When the Internet began to reshape the availability of adult video–and as lingerie and sex toys became more acceptable to the mainstream market–Fantasy was prepared to transition from “old school” video stores to adult retail boutiques.

Our stores have grown and changed to meet the needs of our customers.  In 2011, we removed the video arcade from our Clackamas store to create an open, inviting showroom for toys and apparel. Our Downtown store also changed locations, leaving video behind. Our Downtown location, on the outskirts of the historic Alphabet District, features over 5000 square feet dedicated to latest in adult toys and fashion–and from mid-September through October, offers the best selection of adult costumes and accessories in Portland. Meanwhile, we continue to update the video arcades in our original Hollywood and Tigard locations, which serve as a safe haven for arcade customers and video aficionados.

As we aspire to provide the most comfortable, diverse, and inclusive adult retail environment in Portland, we’ll continue to update our stores and product selection.  While we keep a beat on the latest trends, we know that the key to our evolution is you, our customer!  Visit our stores, talk to us, let us know what you think and how we can continue to be the best adult store in town.

Meet the Buyers

MaryKayMary Kay – Apparel Buyer & Visual Display Coordinator
A Portland native, MaryKay managed Hot Topic at the Lloyd Center, then Urban Outfitters in NW Portland before joining Fantasy in 2006 as a store manager. In 2007, she was promoted to Apparel Buyer and Visual Display Coordinator. MaryKay loves working for Fantasy because it allows her to assist people with an important but often neglected aspect of their lives: “I get to help people of all ages, sizes, and styles feel sexy.” As a buyer, she ensures Fantasy has something for everyone in an array of price points. As a shopper, she keeps retail prices reasonable, asking herself,  “What would I pay for this?”  She also loves working the sales floor. You can often find her at the Downtown store Fridays and the two weeks leading up to Halloween. MaryKays’ hobbies include crafting in all mediums (she sometimes has nipple clamps for sale at the stores), gardening, dancing, karaoke, reading “silly teenage books”, and playing with her cats, Georgie and Oni.

GlynnGlynn – Toy Merchandise Buyer
Originally from Eugene, Glynn found her calling when she joined the Fantasy team in June of 2000. Originally hired as a sales associate, she’s worked at four stores and spent several years as an assistant manager before becoming toy buyer in 2013. As one of the most knowledgeable, enthusiastic sex toy buyers on the West Coast, Glynn loves working for a company that allows her to help people become comfortable with their own sexuality, “Not just how their bodies work, but with their desires and the ability to find or ask for satisfaction.” As the go-to “sexpert” for her college friends, Glynn knew she wanted to make a career helping people learn to enjoy sex. “I need everyone to know they have permission to do so.” Devoted console gamer (preferring games by Gearbox, Bethesda, and Bioware), Glynn also collects and customizes BJD or “ball-jointed dolls” (if you’re afraid of dolls at all, don’t Google that). She also sculpts and casts, relating to both passions.

Wil – Bondage & Fetish Buyer, Inventory Analyst
After earning his M.A. in Popular Culture and spending several years working for independent bookstores in the other Portland (Maine) and the other Milwaukee (Wisconsin), Wil moved to Portland, Oregon in 2009, searching for kink, community, and purpose. After several years of an open relationship with both New Seasons Market and Fantasy, the call to make a difference in a small, local business secured his position as a buyer at Fantasy. Wil specializes in buying men’s, bondage, and fetish gear. He also has a fetish for Excel, data analysis, and colorful, well-organized reports. In his free time, he games (i.e. tabletop RPGs, board games, Minecraft, Civ), writes, bikes, walks about, and escapes to the coast when possible. “Excel finds its way into prepping for RPGs and writing projects, but on the coast, I find peace, humbled by the ocean and its immensity.”
