We also carry a uniquely curated collection of hosiery, dancer wear, lingerie, and accessories for all shapes and sizes. Most importantly, we have the privilege of helping people explore and improve one of the most vital aspects of their lives. The highlight of our day is helping someone gain or restore confidence in themselves and their relationships—whether by providing the perfect toy, accessory, outfit, or simply a helpful bit of advice.
Our History
In 1985, Tracy Blakeslee opened the first FANTASY store—then known as Fantasy Adult Video—in Missoula, Montana. Following a move to Oregon, Mr. Blakeslee opened the first Portland location in 1989 and established a central office and warehouse, helping to build what has become one of Portland’s most iconic small local business chains. Although celebrated for its Portland presence, FANTASY’s warehouse in the Portland, Oregon Hollywood District continues to proudly support the remaining location in Mr. Blakeslee’s hometown of Missoula.
Driven by a commitment to civil rights and sexual liberty, Tracy Blakeslee founded FANTASY on the fundamental belief that everyone has the right to explore and enjoy their sexual desires. Much of FANTASY’s initial success was fueled by the adult video boom—first with the advent of VHS in the 1980s, and later with DVDs in the 1990s. During that era, FANTASY’s adult video arcades provided customers with a safe, welcoming space to view content and connect with others within what was then a relatively conservative social landscape.
As the industry evolved, so did FANTASY. We have consistently updated our inventory, blending timeless favorites with the latest, most innovative advancements in adult wellness technology. In 2006, we significantly expanded our apparel selection to create a more inviting, accessible environment for those new to the experience. As the internet reshaped the availability of adult media—and as lingerie and sexual wellness products moved into the mainstream—FANTASY was ready to evolve, transitioning gracefully from our “old school” video roots into the modern, inclusive adult retail boutiques we are today.
Our stores have continuously grown and evolved to better meet the needs of our customers. In 2011, we transformed our Clackamas location by removing the video arcade to create a more open, inviting showroom for our expanded collections of toys and apparel. Similarly, our Downtown store moved to a new space, leaving behind traditional video rentals to focus on a 5,000-square-foot flagship experience, now featuring the finest selection of adult fashion and accessories in Portland.
In 2020, we made the difficult decision to close our Beaverton Oregon and Main Street Missoula locations. Furthermore, to ensure the ongoing safety and comfort of our customers and staff, we officially discontinued our adult-only arcades at all locations. Today, we are proud to continue serving our community, including our adult-only theater at our Southside Missoula location, which remains open and ready to welcome you.
As we strive to provide the most welcoming, diverse, and inclusive adult retail environment in Portland, we will continue to constantly refresh our stores and product selections.
